Last month I had the chance to present “Future-Proofing Talent in the AI Era” to an audience of 70+ L&D professionals across the globe, from Utah to Kenya and many places in between. It was a meaningful opportunity to explore how AI is reshaping skills, work, and learning strategies across the globe.
Poll responses revealed a wide spectrum of AI engagement — some attendees were already using AI tools regularly in their workflows, while others were just beginning to explore the possibilities. Strikingly, around 30% indicated they know someone who has been directly affected by AI-related layoffs or restructuring, underscoring the urgency of the topic.
Session comments and questions reflected a growing concern about how change is being communicated. Several participants noted the importance of leadership stepping up to provide clarity and direction for teams navigating uncertainty. The theme of needing more intentional and proactive guidance came through heavily.
Main takeaways from my session included these 5 strategies to build future-ready talent:
- Identify AI’s Impact
- Define “Future-Ready”
- Personalize Learning Paths
- Lead by Example with AI Integration
- Measure What Matters
